BERNARDS FIELD – This past Saturday, September 10th, LMC boys soccer team defeated the Lawton Blue Devils 6-1. This game put their record at 5-1, showing clearly that the team has improved from last year. At the same point in their previous season,  they had only 1 win, and 5 losses.

In the game, Andrew Kangas continued leading the team in goals adding 4 more to his record, putting him at 16. Two of his four were unassisted, and the other two were assisted by Nati Schueneman and Nathan Janson. The other two goals were scored by Nati Schueneman and Jesse Schueneman.

Overall, Lake Michigan Catholic dominated the game with 18 shots to Lawton’s 6, and 18 corners to Lawton’s 3. On the other side of the field, Lawton’s keeper had 8 saves, and LMC’s keeper, Caleb Conklin, had 5.

LMC has a tough schedule ahead of them with the Parchment Tournament this coming weekend, on September 17. They will be facing Hartford, Dowagiac, and Parchment, and they lost against all three last year.

Senior captain, Andriejus Gaska, feels positive about the teams upcoming performance. “I think we have a really good chance of going 3-0, but to win our first game against Hartford we are really going to have to stay focused; other than that, we shouldn’t have much trouble with Dowagiac and Parchment.”
