Another Win for the Laker Varsity Football Team

St. Joseph – Improved, exciting and thrilling are the words used to express the homecoming football game on Friday September 19, 2016. The Lakers had yet another victory, scoring 40-0 against the River Valley Mustangs. Currently the LMC football team is undefeated this season, so far winning all four of their games.

The best part of homecoming for most people had to be the football game. The Laker section was full of fans, parents, and alumnis. With the encouragement of our fans, the team scored and scored touchdowns leading them into a win.

As of last year, the varsity football team has drastically improved.  Many had thought this year would be rough, however these past few game have shocked many.

All though the team knew River Valley was not going to their biggest opponent, the team did have ups and downs. Assistant coach Jason Devoir had agreed that the team definitely had some.

“I believe that the team’s focus could have been better and they could have played to their fullest potential.” Coach DeVoir later on added that “the offensive could have been better, [but] the defense was outstanding.”

One thing that the team can improve on for future games is to mental preparation. So far, the season for the varsity football team has been going very well.

Hopefully the Laker football team learns from their mistakes and continue to improve to make it to district playoffs.

The fans and the coaches are proud of their fourth win, however, the football team still has another half of the season to go. Please come and support the boys this coming Friday, September 23, 2016, against Parchment at Watervliet. Kick off will start at 7 O’Clock.
