LMC Goes 2-1 in Parchment Invitational

Parchment High School – Last Saturday, September 17, Lake Michigan Catholic boy’s soccer team went 2-1 playing against Hartford, Parchment, and Dowagiac.

In their first game against Hartford, they lost in an ugly 5-1 match. Andriejus Gaska, senior captain, scored the only goal for the Lakers, but that certainly wasn’t enough.

Laker captain, Andrew Zuhl (senior), hopes to beat Hartford when they play them later this season. “The game against Hartford certainly wasn’t our best, and we will beat them next time, as long as we come out stronger.”

They played their next game, without a break, against Parchment, winning 4-1. The Lakers’ strikers, Andrew Kangas and Andiejus Gaska, each scored two goals and got an assist each, but it still wasn’t their best game.

To finish off the tournament, the Lakers had a match against Dowagiac, who had lost to Hartford by only one and had almost mercied Parchment. Although it seemed like it would be a close one, the Lakers came out strong, and dominated winning 4-0.

The Lakers did well in the tournament, but if they’re going to want to win against some of the tougher teams, they will have to play better. Coming up on their schedule they have Coloma, Bridgeman, and later in the season they face Hartford again.
