Weekly Captain – Adriana Nerio

SAINT JOSEPH – Adriana Nerio, sophomore, became the new weekly captain of the Lake Michigan Catholic sideline cheer team. She was chosen due to her supportiveness to both the cheerleaders and football players during every practice and football game.

At practice, Michelle Fairbanks, the varsity cheer coach, said she really wanted to give the captain title to three people, however Adriana was the one who stood out the most.

“Adriana was chosen to be our weekly captain because of her amazing spirit at every game, her positive attitude at games and practice, and [her willingness] to step in and help fill in any spot we need her to with a smile on her face.”

This is the second year Adriana has been on the sideline cheerleading team. She was ecstatic when she found out that she became the weekly captain.

“I felt excited and honored to have this position and be part of such a great program.”

Her dedication to the team and hard work show not only on the field, but also at practice.  Hannah Starr, senior captain, believes Adriana has the qualifications of being a captain.

“I think that she really deserved it, she’s always been really positive at the games.  She’s the first to help encourage. Even though she was not a captain before, she is really into cheer and it shows.”

Congratulations to Adriana and good luck to the team throughout the rest of the season!
