Weekly Captain – Hayden Starr

Weekly Captain - Hayden Starr

LAKE MICHIGAN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL – Hayden Starr, freshman, became the newest weekly captain of Lake Michigan Catholic sideline cheer team this week. She got this title because of her positive attitude and perseverance.

Sideline coach Michelle Fairbanks was proud to announce Starr as the captain.

“This person is somebody who always comes up to me like ‘How can I do this better?’ I honestly didn’t think she [was] gonna keep her base position from camp, because she is so tiny, but she proved that. Big things come from small packages, Hayden.”

This is Starr’s first ever year cheering, but she is as good as all the other cheerleaders. She is a practiced base and can do all kind of stunting.

Starr was so surprised yet excited to be the weekly captain.

“I feel like my hard word had paid off, and it is a honor to be a captain of my favorite sport, and I am really glad that I choose to do cheer this year.”

Emily Zilke, senior captain, thinks that her hard work was worth it.

“I’ve been waiting for Hayden to get weekly captain. Hannah and I always talked about how much she deserves this honor.”

Congratulations to Hayden Starr for being named the weekly captain!
