New Changes to Disney World

ORLANDO, FL- Walt Disney World, located in Orlando, Florida, will be turning 50 years old. Disney World is celebrating its 50th anniversary with big new changes, all across the resorts. There are many new attractions, restaurants, rides, and hotels, there are also new shows and movies to debut in Epcot. 

The “O Canada!” film from the Canada pavilion is being changed to “Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360,” which is narrated by “Schitt’s Creek” Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy. Another new film “Awesome Planet,” it’s being shown at the Land pavilion. The film is about different ecosystems and the beauty of the Earth. 

The “Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along” film and the “Impressions de France” will debut in the France pavilion. All of these movies will come out on January 17, 2021. The Liberty Inn restaurant at the American Adventure pavilion in Epcot, will hopefully change to the Muppets-themed Regal Eagle Smokehouse. The menu will include a variety of barbecue styles that will also include the Kansas City smoked chicken, Memphis dry-rub pork ribs, and North Carolina chopped smoked pork butt. 

Another new restaurant is The Space 220 that features different views of the Earth from day to night. When you first enter the restaurant you go through an elevator and it will transport you to lift off. An official menu has not been released yet however it’s said to feature modern American cruise, the restaurant is expected to open in the winter 2020. 

There are many other new attractions like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway that will arrive at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. “This trackless, “2-and-​1⁄2-D” ride is actually Mickey and Minnie Mouse’s first-ever ride at a Disney theme park and will transport guests into a Mickey cartoon short.” (Menyes Carolyn, 2020) This ride will come out on March 4, 2020. Cirque du Soleil show celebrating Walt Disney Animation Studios, will preview on March 20, and debut on April 17. 

In 2020, “HarmonioUS” will launch, and it will show all the favorite Disney songs from world cultures. It is also expected to include floating set pieces, LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, fireworks, lasers and much more. Remy’s ratatouille adventure is coming to the France pavilion in Epcot, this attraction is planning on opening in the summer of 2020.  

A fourth restaurant is coming to Epcot’s France pavilion, the menu is inspired by the cuisine of the Brittany region in France. The new attraction for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open up in Epcot. A Tron-themed rollercoaster will be an additional ride to the Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland in 2021. The Star-Wars Galactic Star Cruiser, a Star-Wars themed hotel will open in 2021. There are many new additions that are opening this summer and for next year as well so be sure to go to Disney World to check them out!
