CALABASAS, CALIFORNIA- Sunday, January 26, Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, were found among nine dead after a fatal helicopter crash while on their way to a youth basketball event at the Mamba Sports Academy. The “Sikorsky S-76B” crashed around 10 AM and managed to kill all the passengers on board, the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation

The morning of the incident was especially foggy, but the chopper was given special permission to take off. Because of the drastically poor conditions, the pilot was unaware of how low he was flying. Suddenly, after gaining some altitude, the pilot took a turn into the ground.

The nine confirmed victims included both Bryant and his 13 year old daughter, along with renowned basketball coach, John Altobelli, his wife and daughter, Keri and Melissa, as well as four other victims, Christina Mauser, Sarah Chester, Payton Chester, Ara Zobayan.

Because the crash caused a wildfire to break out, it inhibited first responders from getting to the scene immediately. Furthermore, it has been stated that the helicopter was not carrying the recommended first aid equipment while flying.

For the fans of Bryant, it has been expressed as a difficult time. Senior, Max Alle, even sent out a petition in hopes of getting the official NBA ( National Basketball Association) to change their logo to a picture of the star player.

“It’s very sad. The more I think about it the more it becomes hard to fathom. However, it does bring about a positive impact as the entire community unites over one person. It displays the brotherhood behind the NBA”

As his wife, Vanessa Laine Bryant, continues to mourn, many are sending prayers to the family in their time of grief.
