Beverly Hills, California- On Sunday January fifth the seventy-third annual golden globes took place at the Beverly Hilton.  The exciting night was filled with anticipation and award winning speeches. But out of all the speeches the most memorable speech came from Joaquin Phoenix.          With categories ranging from best drama motion picture, to best performance by an actor in a musical or comedy television series, these winners got to take home that said it all.

In the category of best drama motion picture the movie 1917 took the gold against movies; The Irishmen, Joker, Marriage Story, and The Two Popes.  The best performance by an actress in a drama motion picture went to Renée Zellweger, from Judy,  and her actor counterpart was Joaquin Phoenix, from Joker.

Some other actress winners were; Awkwafina, The Farewell, Michelle Williams, Fosse/Verdon, and Olivia Colman, The Crown.  Some movies and television shows that won were;  Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Chernobyl, Fleabag, and Missing Link.

Then there was also a slight uproar when it was revealed that Game of Thrones only had one nomination from Kit Harington, and he didn’t win.  Many people believed that the show should have been nominated for best drama television series and won while others agreed with the one and only nomination it received.  All in all, the night ended with golden trophies finding new homes and celebrities celebrating their wins.
