SAINT JOSEPH, MICHIGAN- On Saturday, September 14, LMC’s football team took on Michigan Lutheran. The team won 62-20 by a landslide, beating their rivals.

In the end, Michigan Lutheran’s defense was just not enough to keep the Laker football players from scoring. Daiden Shaw was one of the top players for the game.

The Lakers offense was run by Shaw with a total of 324 yards and seven touchdowns, along with Terrence Allen, who had 13 carries for 108 yards and one touchdown. Connor Casey also helped out with five carriers and a score.

When asking for information on how well the players did at the game, Josh Fairbanks, Laker coach, commented, “Our players came out of the gate and played strong and physical from the start. After our offense ran down the field consecutively, without restraint, for the first touchdown we set the tempo. Then when we recovered the onside kick and scored again, we put ourselves in position to control the game before Michigan Lutheran even got a chance to get going.”

The Laker’s defense was on point during this Saturday game as well. The top tackles were from Brandon Buchanan, Otto DeSchaaf, and Terrence Allen.

After the victorious win against Michigan Lutheran, Josh Fairbanks has high hopes for the season.

“How well we do is totally up to the players and how they journey into the rest of the season. With only six games left, we have the opportunity to be very successful this year. However, it’s going to take the players putting in a good week of practice every week and going out there and competing for the entire game every contest.”

Laker football is on the rise and continues to challenge teams left and right in both defense and offense. The next game will be at TriUnity Christian school field at 7:00pm, so come out to support the guys!
