Royal Baby Buzz

London, England- Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and now proud parents, Harry and Meghan, had their first baby together on May 6th, 2019. The Duchess gave birth to a little baby boy, weighing in at 7 pounds and 3 ounces.

The proud parents showed their new bundle of joy for the first time on May 8th, 2019, presenting their son in St. George’s Hall, Windsor Castle and confirmed Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, as the name of the new royal. Baby Archie also met the Queen, Prince Philip, and Meghan’s mother Doria at the presentation.

The birth of baby Archie has been significant in a number of ways. First, Archie is the first mixed-race baby to be born into relatively close succession to the throne. Secondly, he has dual citizenship in both the U.S. and England.

Furthermore, the royal parents chose to have the baby at home rather than at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington in central London. This is not the first time that this has been done, though the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had all three of their children at the hospital, along with the likes of Princess Diana, but the Queen actually had all four of her children delivered at home. The couple did this because they wanted the process to be more private and they wanted family members to be present in a more intimate way.

The new mother commented on the events of the past couple of days saying, “It’s magic, It’s pretty amazing. I mean I have the two best guys in the world, so I’m really happy… He’s just been a dream. So it’s been a special couple of days”.

The couple also said that baby Archie has a calm temperament. As far as looks go, the Duke and Duchess said they were trying to figure who the baby was taking after more, ultimately stating that they are monitoring baby Archie for the next two weeks.

The new royal family member will be eighth in line to the throne behind his uncle, cousins, and father.

Now that  royal baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor has been welcomed into the world, we all patiently await the announcement of who his godparents will be.
