United States  – Brett Kavanaugh. Many people have said this name in the past few weeks, but who is he and what did he do?

Kavanaugh is the newest Supreme Court Justice of the United States, recently sworn in by president Donald Trump. Kavanaugh’s name has been swirling throughout the internet and various news outlets after he was accused of sexual misconduct by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, a former classmate of his from high school.

Now I’m not going to go into detail, but Blasey spoke of how Kavanaugh and a friend of his sexually abused her during a highschool party, which is totally unacceptable. Blasey definitely has a right to be upset and I couldn’t Imagine what she went through that day, but I don’t agree with the way she decided to deal with the issue.

Kavanaugh was nominated by President Trump to be a Supreme Court Justice, as I said before. I believe that Blasey decided to testify at that moment because she does not feel Kavanaugh should hold the position, which I get, but I don’t feel it’s fair to bring up someones past mistakes after so long, just to mess up their career.

The event that Blasey talks about happened roughly 35 years ago; in my opinion, I think she waited to long to testify against him. I understand that she was probably embarrassed, scared, and even uncomfortable, but if she really wanted to lock Kavanaugh up, Blasey should have acted at a sooner time.

Legally, Blasey couldn’t of done anything anyway due to the fact that she waited to long to testify, assuming that she was not a minor at the time, but each state has different variations of the law.Now I’m not saying that nothing occured between Kavanaugh and Blasey during high school.

Overall, in my opinion I do support Blasey and her matters but I don’t think Kavanaugh should be removed from his position after he worked so hard. We all make mistakes in our lives, some more grave than others, but I don’t believe you should be punished for the mistakes you make during your childhood after such a long time has passed.
