The Scrunchie Comeback

The Scrunchie Comeback

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA- The scrunchie was first invented in 1987 by Rommy Revson, a former singer, songwriter before the hair accessory boomed in the 90s. Today, many retailers are putting scrunchies back on the shelves to spark their comeback.

For those who may not know a scrunchie is a fabric covered hair elastic used to pull back longer hair. And although they are coming back into style, they have been highly hated in the past.

Since its popularity in the 80s and 90s, scrunchies have tried to make a comeback every year with little to no success. 2018 however, has been a bit of a different story.

From stores like Urban Outfitters and Lululemon Athletica, to Target and Kohl’s, scrunchies can be seen taking the shelves of many retailers. And people are buying them.

Scrunchies are a fun alternative to the ever so boring hair tie. Coming in a variety of colors and fabrics fit for every style one wishes to achieve.

There are many benefits the scrunchie provides; for example, scrunchies are soft and gentle for the hair and they also mostly prevent the known crease you get from a normal ponytail holder.

Sadly, there is also a downside to these colorful beauties. They don’t work as well for those who have thick, fine, and slippery hair as the scrunchies don’t hold as well in these types of hair.

In all, it is safe to say that the beloved 90s scrunchies are finally making their comeback, so, if you haven’t already, go buy those cute hair accessories and join the fashionable trend.
