Beaverton, OR- On September 5, 2018, the famous sportswear company Nike released a commercial with the former NFL star and quarterback for the 49ers Colin Kaepernick. If many of you do not know Colin Kaepernick was the person who started the national anthem protest by kneeling during the  anthem.

Kaepernick narrates a commercial featuring stars like basketball superstar LeBron James, legendary tennis player Serena Williams, and rookie football player Shaquem Griffin from the Seattle Seahawks.

The commercial showed the downfalls of their careers and the outstanding times in their careers. He stated “believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything.” He also describes that “don’t try to be someone else be yourself and it does not matter who you are or where you come from, you can be anything.”

In the commercial he uses many sports like soccer, basketball, tennis, football and track to prove his point that it is only crazy until you do it, which he states at the end of the commercial.

After the release People were not happy with Nike. People have release videos and photos of them burning the clothes from Nike. Another person who does not appreciate this commercial is President Donald Trump. @realDonaldTrump tweeted “ it is a terrible message.” President Trump has not been a fan of Kaepernick ever since the  protest began. Our President is not the only one that has tweeted out about the commercial NBA star LeBron James also tweeted out something along with other sports stars.

This was not the first time Colin Kaepernick was in a commercial and people hated on him for protesting. It shows him being yelled at by a mob of fans and as he walks by them he puts on a pair of Beats to echo out the hatred.
