UNITED STATES – When it comes to the film industry in 2017, it is going to be a year of blockbuster movies.

The Wolverine 3: Logan is an American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine distributed by 20th Century Fox, directed by James Mangold.Hugh Jackman stars as Logan in what is intended to be his final portrayal of the character after having played the role for 17 years, with Patrick Stewart co-starring as Charles Xavier.

It is intended to be the tenth installment in the X-Men film series, as well as the third and final Wolverine solo film following X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and The Wolverine (2013). It will be released on March 3rd, 2017.

Beauty and the Beast is a romantic fantasy musical film based on Disney story, directed by Bill Condon and written by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos. Belle (Emma Watson)  is a young woman who is taken prisoner by a Beast (Dan Stevens) in his castle in exchange for the freedom of her father, Maurice.

Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and she learns to look beyond the Beast’s exterior to recognize the true heart and soul of the human prince. Its estimated release date is: March 17th, 2017.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is the fifteenth film about the Marvel Universe. It is intended to be the sequel to 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Set two-to-three months after the first film,the Guardians of the Galaxy travel throughout the cosmos and struggle to keep their new-found family together, while helping Peter Quill learn more about his true parentage. The expected release date is May 5th, 2017.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (also known as Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge) is an upcoming American fantasy swashbuckler film, and the fifth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.

It was directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg from a script by Jeff Nathanson, with Jerry Bruckheimer serving again, as the producer.

The story is about Captain Jack Sparrow is pursued by an old rival, Armando Salazar, who along with his crew of ghost pirates has escaped from the Devil’s Triangle, and is determined to kill every pirate at sea. Jack seeks the Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that grants its possessor total control over the seas, in order to defeat Salazar. It will be released on May 26th, 2017.

Wonder Woman is an American superhero film based on the DC Comics character who has the same name. It is intended to be the fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe. It was directed by Patty Jenkins, casted by Gal Gadot as Diana Prince(Wonder Woman).

In the early 20th century, the Amazon princess, Diana, who is living on the island of Themyscira, meets American military pilot Steve Trevor when he is washed ashore. After learning from him about the ongoing events of World War I, she leaves her home to bring an early end to the war. The movie is scheduled to deliver on June 2nd, 2017.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be following the events of Captain America: Civil War. Peter Parker, with the help of his mentor Tony Stark, tries to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens, New York City, with fighting crime as his superhero alter ego Spider-Man as a new threat, Vulture, emerges. Spider-Man: Homecoming is scheduled to be released on July 7th, 2017, in the United States in 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D.

Thor: Ragnarok is based on the Marvel Comics character Thor. It will be the sequel to 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World and the seventeenth film installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Even though the Thor series were not as popular as Iron Man and Captain America, as the last installment of Thor, Marvel spent more money on casts, and is expected to be in theater on November 3rd, 2017.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (also known as Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi) is an upcoming American epic space film written and directed by Rian Johnson. It is the second installment in the Star Wars sequel trilogy following Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).

The film is produced by Lucasfilm And Walt Disney Studios and stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis in returning roles.

New cast members include Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran in unconfirmed roles.  The movie’s estimated release date is December 15th, 2017.

Mr. Schmidt, one of the high school English teacher, who is a huge Star Wars fan, said he couldn’t wait for the new Star War movie that is coming out.

“I am really excited to see it. I love Star Wars and I just want to see how the story keeps going.”

Andrew Armstrong, senior, a movie-fanatic, said he was looking forward to see all the movies coming out this year.

“I’m excited for Star Wars, because it’s Star Wars. I’m excited for Alien: Covenant, because xenomorphs are the coolest and scariest thing ever. I’m excited for War for the Planet of the Apes because the Apes reboots are pretty good. I’m excited for Dunkirk because it’s Christopher Nolan. Also excited for Logan, Murder on the Orient Express LEGO Batman movie.”

These are just a partial list of high expectations of the film, there are many Hollywood science fiction movies such as Zombie World War,  King Kong: Skull Island, etc. 2017 is really a good year for movie fans.
