The Winterfest Crowning

LAKE MICHIGAN CATHOLIC- Last week Friday, January 20, was a big day for the Lakers.  Lake Michigan Catholic had their annual Winterfest basketball games. This event not only left the crowd roaring, but awarded four lucky high schoolers with the title of prince, princess, king, and queen.

Each class voted for representatives that would then have a chance to win these high titles through a second voting by the entire student body. After the votes were in, the winners were announced and crowned by the 2016 winners, Princess Kelley Golden and Prince Andriejus Gaska, and King Vernon Ullig and Queen Holly Osborn.

On the court for the freshman class were Katie Wertheimer and Jacob Koenig. For the sophomore class, Anika Gaska and Will Latham held the title.

 The representatives for the junior class were Francesca Valenziano and Michael Johnston, Jamie Tidey and Zach Rodgers, Anna LaSata and Seth Collins, Adeline Peters and Logan Myers. For the senior class court, there was Nati Schuneman, Gabby Craig, Samuel Hardman, Brianna Allen, Molly Cutter, Cole Keller, Lizzie Stolte, Elena Douville, Ryan Tidey, and Ben Janson.

The Winterfest crowning took place during the varsity basketball at half time, where the court was introduced to the crowd Anna Lasata was awarded princess and Michael Jonhston was awarded prince for the junior class. Gabby Craig was awarded queen and Nati Scheuneman was awarded king for the senior class.
Scheuneman was honored to be voted king.

“It was a great honor to be voted by my classmates to be their next king. I am very excited to come back next year and crown my predecessor.”
